One of the main reason of using transmission line is to reduce the power loss in transmission lines which is dissipated as heat due to the resistance of the conductors. High-voltage transmission lines are used to transmit electric power over long distances.

Transmission is generally done at high voltage which having following advantages:

1- Less copper wire is needed
2- Less losses or less heat is generated
3- Efficient power being transmitted or distributed.
