Answer: Generally, laminated Silicon steel is used to make the armature of a d.c. machine.


3. Why the armature winding of d.c. machine is placed on the rotor?
Answer: The armature winding of a d.c. machine is placed on the rotor to facilitate commutation.


4. Generator voltage of a d.c. generator Depends on which factors?
Answer: The generated voltage of a DC generator depends upon speed and flux.


5. How many magnetic circuits will be in 4-pole d.c. machines?
Answer: A 4-pole d.c. machine has 4 magnetic circuits.


6. What are the stray losses in a d.c. machine?
Answer: Iron losses and mechanical losses together are called stray losses.
