Answer: Following are the four most important characteristics of an fuse
1. Current Ratings
2. Voltage Rating
3. Physical Size
4. Fusing Characteristics
The current rating of a fuse should be more than the maximum normal circuit current by 25%. The voltage rating of the fuse must be at least equal to the circuit voltage. The fusing characteristics is determined by blowing time versus current flow graph.
