Answer: Although there are many types of faults which occur in a power system but the most common and dangerous faults in a power system are short circuits faults. Following are some short circuit faults occur in power system
1. Phase to ground (L-G)
2. Phase to phase (L-L)
3. Two phase to ground (L-L-G)
4. All three phase short circuited (L-L-L)
5. All phase to ground (L-L-L-G)

The other types of faults that occur in a power system are open faults such as one conductor open fault and two conductor open fault.
